History

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime is originally a Light Novel Series written by Fuse and illustrated by Mitz Vah. The Light Novel series got a manga as well as an anime adaptation. The first season of the anime started airing in October 2018 and ended in March 2019. The second season of the anime was released in January 2021 and ended in September of the same year.

Story

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime introduces us to Satoru Mikami, who is living a very monotonous life, devoting his life to his work only. One day, he met his colleague with his girlfriend and got stabbed by some thug who was trying to run away. Now, instead of actually dying, Satoru opened his eyes to an unfamiliar world.

He realizes that he had been summoned to a fantasy world and as a “slime”. However, he’s not just an ordinary slime. He has the power to devour anything and copy its appearance and powers as well. He’s exploring a dungeon when he comes across a Storm Dragon named Veldora. He had been sealed away for the past 300 years.

Satoru gets along well with Veldora and both of them become friends. Satoru promises Veldora that he’ll help him break the seal. In return, Veldora grants Satoru the name “Rimuru Tempest” as well as Divine Protection. Now, Rimuru is all set to explore the new fantasy world where he was summoned. He’s going to live a totally different life from his precious one in the new world he got reincarnated in.

Characters

That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime serves us with a bunch of very unique and interesting characters that we can’t help but fall in love with. We’ll be talking about a few of them down below.

1. Rimuru Tempest

Rimuru Tempest is the main protagonist of the series. He lived his life as Satoru Mikami, a corporate slave, in his previous life. Rimuru has always been very kind and gentle, be it his previous life or his new one. He had been very hardworking and loyal whenever it came to his work in his previous life and that habit of his hasn’t changed even in his new life. He always used to take up others’ work in his previous life as he couldn’t say no to them. This also shows Rimuru’s timid nature.

He cares deeply about those who are close to him and does whatever it takes to protect them. He tends to lose his temper when his loved ones are in danger. He goes on a rampage then. He’s usually very chill though.

Rimuru is a very anxious person. He also tends to worry a lot. As a leader, Rimuru was too naive. The people around him easily persuaded him when it came to negotiations of any kind. Even though Rimuru is too overpowered, he’s quite humble as well. He tends to not let his overpoweredness get to his head and never underestimates his opponents.

Rimuru is a good decision maker and tends to not panic under stressful situations. He’s very smart and cunning when it comes to decision-making. All in all, Rimuru is loved and praised by everyone in his universe.

2. Veldora Tempest

Veldora Tempest is one of the four True Dragons. He’s also known as the Storm Dragon Veldora. Veldora appears to be a very intimidating and fierce Dragon but he’s also quite friendly. He gets excited easily and loves showing off.

Veldora was thought to be a very dangerous dragon who would bring destruction anywhere he goes. However, he’s not like that at all. He only destroys those who try to harm the ones who are close to him.

Veldora ended up becoming more calm and considerate after getting involved with Rimuru. His impulsive behavior changed greatly. He started becoming fond of Rimuru and became really close to him. Rimuru and Veldora’s friendship really is unbreakable!

3. Shion

Shion is the secretary as well as the bodyguard of Rimuru. She’s someone Rimuru can definitely depend upon. Shion is a little dumb though. She trusts Rimuru and his ability to bring change blindly. She should be gentle as a girl but she’s totally brutal.

Shion is very impulsive when it comes to making decisions. She also uses violence in order to resolve matters and does not know peace. Shion is one of the most interesting characters in That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime’s universe.

4. Milim Nava

Milim Nava is one the oldest Demon Lords and is also a member of the Octagram. She’s a Catastrophe level Demon Lord that is considered one of the strongest beings. Milim looks like a child at first glance but is very old in reality. She gets really angry whenever someone calls her a child.

Milim is quite aggressive and short-tempered.

While she has a very rash and impulsive personality, Milim Nava can sometimes also keep her cool and remain very calm. This makes her all the more intimidating. However, if someone close to her is in danger, she would become very destructive.

Milim was a very lonely demon. She didn’t have anyone she could lean upon. After meeting Rimuru, she got to know the real meaning of friendship. She used to get bored all the time and spread chaos just for fun. However, Rimuru City was able to relieve Milim of her boredom and that’s how she stopped using people’s misery just for fun. She liked Rimuru so much that she considered him her only true friend.

5. Benimaru

Benimaru is an Ogre who is a part of the group that was named Rimuru Tempest. He’s a very confident man and is also very laid back. Most often, he acts carelessly. He doesn’t like serving under anyone and is a lone wolf. At the same time, he’s also not full of himself and doesn’t look down upon those who are weaker than him.

Benimaru doesn’t like shedding blood and refrains from battling with anyone. However, he used to be a very short-tempered person. After getting to know Rimuru and in his role as the general of the army under Rimuru, he became quite calm, composed, and rational.

6. Luminous Valentine

Luminous Valentine is the ruler of all the vampires and is the Demon Lord of the fifth seat of the Octagram. Like Milim, she also looks like a child but is a very old demon. She’s a very stuck up individual who looks down upon those who are weaker than her and thinks of them as inferior species. Just like Milim, she also gets bored very easily and wants somebody to entertain her all the time.

7. Shuna

Shuna is a Kijin evolved from an Ogre. She’s also Rimuru’s chief economic advisor. She’s very gentle and kind. As a princess, she knows her manners and carries herself gracefully at all times.

Shuna appears to be a very timid girl who cannot explain how she feels about a certain thing. However, she can adjust well anywhere. She can also get along well with everyone she meets. Shuna is also very skilled at making clothes. She’s very fond of Rimuru and wants to keep herself close to him all the time.

8. Guy Crimson

Guy Crimson belongs to the Demon Lords. He appears to be a very proud and obnoxious individual who looks down upon others. He knows his powers and takes great pride in them. He also appears to be very flirty and constantly hits on Leon Cromwell. He gets interested in those whose power levels are high. That’s why he’s interested in Leon Cromwell.

9. Diablo

Diablo belongs to the species of Demon Peers and is a very cold individual. He’s calm, composed, and also very calculated. However, he doesn’t hesitate inflicting unbearable pain upon those who cause trouble for Rimuru. Just like other characters, Diablo is also very loyal towards Rimuru.
